What Foldermate Does
Foldermate is a browser extension that helps you organize your AI conversations on ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok. We offer both free and Pro features:
Free Features

Pro Features
- • Cloud sync across devices
- • Up to 5 devices per account
- • Automatic backup

Data We Collect
Free Users
For free users, we collect no personal data. All your folder structures and chat assignments are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your device.
- • Folder names: Stored locally only
- • Chat assignments: Stored locally only
- • Chat content: We NEVER access or store your actual chat conversations
Pro Users
For Pro users who opt into cloud sync, we collect and store:
- • Email address: For account authentication and communication
- • Password: Securely hashed, never stored in plain text
- • Folder structure: Names and hierarchy of your folders
- • Chat metadata: Chat IDs and folder assignments (NOT chat content)
- • Device information: Browser type and device identifier for sync
- • Payment information: Processed securely by Dodo Payments (we don't store card details)
What We Do NOT Collect
We want to be absolutely clear about what we never collect or access:
- ❌ Your actual chat conversations or messages
- ❌ Your prompts or AI responses
- ❌ Your browsing history outside of supported AI platforms
- ❌ Personal files on your computer
- ❌ Keystrokes or screen recordings
- ❌ Data from other browser tabs or extensions
How We Use Your Data
- Authentication: To verify your identity and manage your Pro subscription
- Cloud Sync: To synchronize your folder structure across your devices
- Service Communication: To send important updates about your account or service changes
- Support: To help resolve any issues you report
Data Storage & Security
- Local Data (Free): Stored in Chrome's local storage, encrypted by your browser
- Cloud Data (Pro): Stored on Supabase servers with row-level security
- Passwords: Hashed using industry-standard algorithms
- API Communication: All data transmitted over HTTPS with TLS encryption
- Authentication: Secured with HMAC-SHA256 signed tokens
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Supabase: Database and authentication (Pro users only)
- Dodo Payments: Payment processing for Pro subscriptions
- Resend: Transactional emails (payment confirmations)
Each service has their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
Data Retention
- Free Users: Data persists in your browser until you clear it or uninstall the extension
- Pro Users: Data retained while your subscription is active. Upon cancellation, data is retained for 30 days then permanently deleted
- Account Deletion: You can request complete data deletion by contacting us
Your Rights
You have the right to:

Children's Privacy
Foldermate is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we will send an email notification to Pro users.
